Too fat and stupid to be soldiers say generals

"Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way
to go through life son."
Dean Vernon Wormer

By Gary;

It appears that some of our retired generals do not think highly of America's children.  Kids need to slim down and read more they say.  Only then will they provide the endless stream of cannon fodder the military needs.  I guess the grave yards are not full enough.

An Insult to America  -  Hello generals.  In case you didn't notice we live in a free nation.  The U.S. population does not exist in order to fill military body bags.

This "concern" by our generals wraps up into one package the Food Police, the Big Brother Nanny State and militarism.

As free Americans we can go to the gym 7 days a week, hike, ride a bike or just say "screw it" and sit on a bench watching the sun set in all of God's glory.  We are also free to read great novels or sit on our ass and watch The Walking Dead.  But these ideas of freedom are radical thoughts to the military mind.

The Army claims more than three-fourths of 17- to 24-year-olds today are not eligible to join the military because they aren't fit enough or don't meet other basic requirements, such as having a high school diploma or being able to read or write properly.

"It's not just a school problem. It's not just a Department (of Education) problem. It's a national security issue and it needs to be prioritized that way," said retired Maj. Gen. D. Allen Youngman.

He's one of hundreds of former military officers who have gotten involved in Mission: Readiness, a nonprofit organization whose "Too Fat to Fight" reports attack junk food in schools. Its members also lobby lawmakers for improved school lunches and more widely available pre-K education.

Pardon me, but I suspect most of the Islamists who have been kicking ass in Libya, Nigeria, Iraq and Afghanistan did not graduate high school.  The same can be said for the Chinese and Korean armies that routed our troops driving them south in Korea or the Viet Cong that fought us to draw.  Nor was a high education needed for Americans in our revolution to hide behind a tree and shoot a Brit in the back.

Education is over rated.  As a military historian I see that swinging a sword or pulling a trigger does not require a great education.  The main ingredients are guts, training and discipline.

Right now we downsizing and throwing people out of the military.  So this new centralized Big Government drive to control our diet and education should be seen for what it is.
